Gain a better understanding as to why lifting weights will help you age well:
Boost Confidence and Motivation
People who found joy and comfort in weight-training were more likely to show up for workouts in a gym setting. Older adults found the benefits of weightlifting went more than skin deep; they reaped the emotional benefits by becoming more confident and motivated.
Reverse Loss of Muscle Mass
Once you turn 40, the majority of people lose muscle mass at a rate of 5% per decade. When this population utilizes strength training equipment or free weights, they can slow or even reverse that decreased muscle mass.
Strength is the Tip of the Iceberg
Increasing strength and muscle mass are quite beneficial. However, weightlifting also helps your mobility, mental sharpness and metabolic health.
